In the heart of the Flint Hills, Live Well Morris County stands as a cornerstone of community-driven health and wellness. This coalition brings together local organizations, volunteers, and public health leaders to tackle pressing issues like food insecurity, early childhood development, and access to healthcare. From hosting community baby showers to organizing bike safety days for elementary students to fighting food insecurity, Live Well Morris County is deeply embedded in the lives of residents across Morris county.
One of the coalition’s most impactful efforts is its participation in Match Month, an annual fundraising initiative organized by the Council Grove Area Foundation. This event amplifies community giving by offering matching funds—turning every dollar donated into double the impact. In 2024, the event raised over $250,000, and this year, the goal is to surpass that milestone.
Match Day 2025 runs from November 12 to December 2, with a kickoff celebration held at the Territory Ballroom in Council Grove on Wednesday, November 12. Live Well Morris County will use these funds to support programs like:
· Updated Community Resource Guide: While we plan to print paper copies, an up-to-date digital version will be housed on our website so everyone can quickly find access to community resources.
· Full Plates, Bright Futures: a youth-focused food insecurity initiative which includes Kids Feeding Kids where high school students learn about food insecurity and prepare meals for families in need.
· Project Oasis: A local group of volunteers trying to turn our area from a food desert into a food oasis, with the central theme focused around growing and preserving fresh produce for local nonprofits and food insecure families.
· Community Baby Shower: An annual event for new and expectant parents where they receive important education, supplies, and access to local resources.
· Council Grove After Prom: An event organized by parents that provides a fun atmosphere for our Juniors and Seniors to celebrate after the Prom in a safe and enjoyable environment that is drug and alcohol-free.
These are just a few of the projects the members of Live Well Morris County are involved in throughout our communities. Your donation can help our local health and wellness coalition drive meaningful change within Morris County. Please check out our new website at www.livewellmorriscounty.org to learn more about us!
